Sempull Inc was founded in 2020 to solve a problem every managing partner already knows costs them retainers: the Spanish-speaking client who hangs up, the after-hours PI lead who calls the next firm on Google, the paralegal pulled off a billable file to answer a cold caller. Sempull was started by Laura Pulido, an entrepreneur who spent years watching a pattern repeat itself across the U.S. legal industry: personal injury and general-practice firms were spending heavily on marketing, only to lose signed cases at the phone. Bilingual callers hung up on English-only receptionists. After-hours leads went to voicemail and signed at the next billboard on Google. Paralegals were pulled off billable work to triage cold calls they weren't trained to convert.
The firms Laura talked to knew the problem — they just couldn't solve it without either hiring a 24/7 in-house intake team (out of reach for most) or handing calls to a generic answering service that treated a $40,000 PI retainer the same as a pizza order. Neither option was serious.
